The Repopulation is supported under Windows XP/Vista/7 in both a 32bit and 64bit environment. It should run under Bootcamp as well, but we do not test Apple hardware. The game might run on other platforms (Win 98/2000/2003/2008), but we do not test on these systems for capatability.
The engine we use actually supports running under Mac OSX natively and we might look into that sometime far in the future, but for the time being if you want to run The Repopulation it will have to be on Windows.
These are requirements to pretty much run the engine. It might not run very well, but it is base requirements.
The requirements listed below will run The Repopulation, but you are not going to get the most out of the game. It is highly recommended you have a machine in the Suggested requirements to get the most out of this game. You can expect to have just about everything turned down or off and framerates to dip into the high teens and low 20s in certain areas running at 1024x768. The below setup has been tested to work and lesser systems might work, but we cannot recommend them.
These requirements will get a consistant 50-60 FPS in Medium in most places in the game and possibly better in the Lower settings with Advanced Lighting Turned off. You will not be able to use the advanced Lighting for Dynamic Shadows unless you like < 30 FPS. Mostly everything here can be built cheaply and the video cards can (not entirely recommended) be used with 300 or 350 watt Power supplies.
These are the perferred requirements for being able to turn on the higher settings and enjoy the dynamic shadows. More is better of course, but these should get fairly solid numbers in High.
Our engine makes use of multiple processors, but the primary processor will be used the most. You might find you get better results from a faster dual core processor than from a slower quad core processor. You will definately see a performance difference from the latest and greatest processor compared to something out there from 3 or 4 years ago, so keep that in mind. If you have the choice between spending $100 on a video card or on a processor you should probably spend it on the video card, but try not to skimp on the processor either in your build.
We currently aren't testing with either laptops or netbooks. Chances are the engine is not going to run well at all in a netbook and a laptop it depends on the integrated video card. While we will try to make it at least run in these situations, it will be hard to get a considerable runable framerate in these situations. If you purchase a gaming laptop or a laptop with a nice integrated video card you will probably be able to play the game. If this changes or we start benchmarking these devices we will let you know.
